šThe Top 5 Stories:
1. ChatGPT Takes Over the World (AGAIN): OpenAI Releases Text-Generating API for the Masses!
The world of artificial intelligence has been buzzing this week with the news of OpenAI releasing their ChatGPT and Whisper's API to the public. For those who may not know, ChatGPT is a free text-generating AI that has gained significant popularity and attention in recent times. OpenAI has decided to monetize this success by launching a premium service, ChatGPT Plus, which was introduced in February. Now, the company has taken another step forward by releasing an API that will enable businesses to incorporate ChatGPT technology into their apps, products, and services.
According to Greg Brockman, President, and Chairman of OpenAI, the API is powered by the same AI model behind ChatGPT, known as "gpt-3.5-turbo." Brockman explained that the "turbo" moniker refers to an optimized, more responsive version of GPT-3.5 that OpenAI has been testing for ChatGPT. The API, which is priced at $0.002 per 1,000 tokens or approximately 750 words, can drive a range of experiences, including non-chat applications.
Early adopters of the API include popular companies such as Snap, Quizlet, Instacart, and Shopify. The new ChatGPT API is said to be 10x cheaper per CEO Sam Altman than previous models! While also being significantly faster, but donāt take our word for it what the video below for a side by side comparison.
2. Hold on to your Filters, Snapchatās āMy AIā here
Hold onto your filters because the social media giant, Snap Inc, just announced the launch of their very own AI chatbot into their SnapChat app, powered by none other than ChatGPT!š
This cutting-edge technology will initially be available exclusively to Snapchat Plus subscribers, at a cost of $3.99/month but the company has plans to eventually make it accessible to all 750 million Snapchat users worldwide. š¤
The new chatbot, known as āMy AI,ā promises to revolutionize the way Snapchat users interact with the app. With ChatGPTās natural language processing capabilities, My AI will be able to understand and respond to users' messages in a way that feels more human and personalized than ever before.
At launch, My AI is essentially just a fast mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT inside Snapchat. The main difference is that Snapās version is more restricted in what it can answer. Snapās employees have trained it to adhere to the companyās trust and safety guidelines and not give responses that include swearing, violence, sexually explicit content, or opinions about dicey topics like politics.

3. Brave Joins In on the AI Search Race šļø
Revving up its engine to compete with other AI-powered search engines, Brave Search has launched a new "Summarizer" feature for its users. The feature uses a combination of three large language models (LLMs), however it surprisingly does not include OpenAI's GPT LLM technology.
The summary tool is accessible for both desktop and mobile users of Brave Search, and can generate summaries for queries like "are acetaminophen and ibuprofen the same" using medical resources or "what happened in East Palestine Ohio" through news links.

4. Figure Beatās Tesla to Market with World's First Commercially Humanoid Robot
Ladies, gentlemen & AI, let me introduce you to Figure, a new AI robotics company, has emerged from stealth mode and aims to build a commercially viable autonomous humanoid robot. š¤
The startup, which is led by Archer co-founder Brett Adcock, has a team of 40 with backgrounds in companies such as Boston Dynamics, Tesla, and Alphabet X. The team aims to build a better future for humanity by intersecting AI and robotics. Figure is working on a general-purpose bipedal humanoid robot, with a focus on manual labor tasks, such as warehouse, fulfillment, logistics, manufacturing, and retail, where labor shortages are most severe.
The company has completed the alpha build of the robot and is currently testing it in its Sunnyvale offices. The team believes they are at a point where they can commercialize robots that have primarily been R&D over the last two decades. The startup plans to optimize its business model to get to revenue as quickly as possible. The robot is currently being tested for commercial operations, and the company plans to validate its humanoid in the near future.

5. Elon Musk to Launch Rival AI Chatbot to ChatGPT š
In a major breaking news, Elon Musk has recently contacted AI researchers to establish a new research laboratory to develop an alternative to ChatGPT. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, who co-founded OpenAI, ChatGPT's parent company, has been vocal about his criticism of the company and its products. He believes that ChatGPT is too "woke" or "progressive" and has called it "troubling" for refusing to say a racial slur in an absurd scenario where doing so would save millions of people from a nuclear bomb.
As a result, he is planning to form a new research lab to build his own chatbot that could compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Musk has recruited Igor Babuschkin, a former researcher at Google DeepMind AI, to lead the project. According to Babuschkin, the goal of the project is to improve the reasoning abilities and factualness of the language models, ensuring that the model's responses are more trustworthy and reliable. However, Musk's plan is not to build a chatbot with fewer content safeguards.
Musk's criticism of OpenAI also includes the company shifting from a non-profit organization to a for-profit enterprise, which he says is not what he intended. Elon Musk has been teasing his new AI chatbot that could potentially compete with ChatGPT, and it seems like he will implement the project soon dubbing it Based AI.
šØ BONUS: Windows 11 Gets Major Update with AI-powered Bing Search Integration
Microsoft has released a big update for Windows 11 that includes new features such as an AI-powered Bing search integrated into the taskbar, Phone Link for iOS, improved widgets, a touch-optimized taskbar, a screen recording feature, and more. The new Bing integration provides quick access to the new Bing chat feature, which allows users to chat and get answers to their questions. While the chat answers wonāt be available directly within the search flyout, Windows 11 users will be able to quickly start a Bing chat in Edge from here.
According to Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoftās head of consumer marketing, the search box is used by over half a billion people on a regular basis. Microsoft is also opening up a preview of its Phone Link app for iOS, allowing iPhone users to link their devices to Windows. Other improvements include third-party options for widgets, a tablet-optimized taskbar, screen recording tool, built-in Teams experience, redesigned Quick Assist app, and more. These new features are available now for manual updates, and they will roll out broadly in the March 2023 monthly security update release on March 14th.
